SHAH ALAM, August 25, 2014:

Embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is likely to meet the Selangor Sultan, Sultan Shariffuddin Idris Shah tomorrow afternoon.

It had been earlier reported that he would meet the Sultan today, after the latter returned from his trip to Budapest, Hungary.

Abdul Khalid revealed this to reporters after attending the monthly gathering for Selangor civil servants at the state secretariat building here this morning.

He also said his upcoming meeting with the Ruler is to seek advice on how to proceed further with the Menteri Besar issue.

The Port Klang assemblyman then called on the civil servants to continue to work with him and the four state excos from PAS, regardless of recent accusations levelled at him.

Abdul Khalid’s tenure as the Menteri Besar has been a hot topic of late, after his party, PKR, had last month decided to replace him with their president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

PKR subsequently sacked Abdul Khalid for refusing to adhere to the party’s decision which then led to the latter giving the boot to five PKR and DAP excos earlier this month.

DAP had backed PKR’s proposal to remove Abdul Khalid, while PAS had initially thrown their support behind him. PAS however changed their stance last Sunday citing Abdul Khalid’s sacking for withdrawing their support for him.

Meanwhile, sources said Abdul Khalid is likely to meet the Ruler at Istana Kayangan although the exact location is yet to be known as there are several palaces in the state.
