KUALA LUMPUR, April 17:
Paloh state assemblyman, Datuk Norzula Mat Diah was involved in a car accident along the trunk road from Cameron Highlands heading towards Simpang Pulai at 6.30pm today.
His wife, Datin Mariah Din, did not survive the crash, while he sustained light injuries.
Both were taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, Perak.
Perak police chief Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani confirmed the incident, saying that the car driven by Norzula rammed into the hillslope by the roadside.
He added that it happened most likely because the road was slippery.
Sources say that the couple’s son, in his 20s, was also travelling in the car with them, but was reportedly not harmed.
Norzula, of Barisan Nasional (BN), defeated Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Amran Ab Ghani during the 13th general election with a majority of 3,937 votes.
