KUALA PERLIS, 13 May 2017:
The Farmers Organisation Authority (FAO), in collaboration with a IBA Safe Soil Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, has come up with a new fertiliser, KNB EG PLUS, which promises to increase oil palm yield.
Director-general Datuk Mohd Salim Taha said the fertiliser had not only proven it could increase output but also reduce harvest time from one year to between four and five months.
The organic fertiliser was enriched with special minerals imported from Europe and Latin America, enhanced the pH level of the soil, encouraged the culture of micro organisms and is an alternative to chemical fertilisers which made the soil less fertile in the long-run.
“We anticipate the use of this fertiliser will have a great impact on the nations’s crude palm oil output,” he told Bernama after FAO’s delegates meeting and launch of the new fertiliser here today.
