KUALA LUMPUR, June 19:
With specifications that can almost rival the newly-launched Amazon Fire, Malaysian firm Ninetology Sdn Bhd today unveiled its first ever LTE smartphone, U9ZIT, priced at only RM899.
With Malaysian government rebates of up to RM200 for the new smartphone, it is arguably the cheapest LTE device in Malaysia today.
The U9ZIT smartphone comes with a 5-inch IPS display that has 1,280 X 720 pixel resolution and runs on Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, clocking at 1.2GHz and mated to a 1GB RAM.
With a built-in internal storage of 8GB, the device’s storage can be expanded to 32GB with a microSD card. The phone is also built-in with a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 1.6 megapixel front camera.
It weighs 164g and holds a 2,000mAh capacity battery – running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, with talk time of up to nine hours and stand-by time of up to 96 hours.
Chief executive officer Sean Ng also launched Ninetology’s eChannel portal.
“The goal of eChannel is to reach out and unite our customers and business partners into a single platform, resulting in a complete business ecosystem, and create a brand new shopping experience for our customers,” said chief digital officer Leslie Loh.
Last year, Ninetology recorded revenue of RM180 million, with a 12% mobile device market share. It projects a revenue of RM380 million for this year, backed by expansion plans into the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
