JOHOR BARU, Sept 10, 2015:
With Singapore hit by a blanket of haze today, parts of the Johor Baru city centre here also experienced a high Air Pollutant Standard Index (API) reading throughout most of today.
Most of the city was clouded in a haze with low levels of visibility since the late morning.
By mid-day the visibility, here was lower and by 6pm the PSI was reported to be between 112 and 124.
A API reading of 101 to 200 is considered unhealthy.
A check at the Johor Baru-Singapore Causeway showed extremely low visibility on the island republic’s end.
The Senai International Airport here that handles domestic and regional flights also reported low visibility.
However, a airport spokesman said that there were no problems with flights arriving and departing.
“Only the flights from Kuching in Sarawak have been slightly delayed. Other than that, we are taking a cautious stance on the visibility by actively monitoring the PSI,” said the spokesman.
